WHAT IS GOD’S WILL FOR YOU CONCERNING YOUR FINANCES?
Scriptures from King James Version (There is commentary at the end of the scriptures.)
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou may prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospers.
Therefore take no thought, saying, what shall we eat? Or, what shall we drink? Or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
For after all these things do the Gentiles seek for your heavenly Father knows that ye have need of all these things.
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
If you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God. For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth comes knowledge and understanding; he stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk in integrity, guarding the paths of justice.
Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold. She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are) riches and honor. I, Wisdom [from God], make prudence my dwelling, and I find out knowledge and discretion. I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions. I, Wisdom, live with insight, and I acquire knowledge and foresight.
Give and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you. But this I say, He which sows sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which sows bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, said the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, says the LORD of hosts. And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, said the LORD of hosts. Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the first fruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine. And the first of all the first fruits of all kinds, and every offering of all kinds from all your offerings, shall belong to the priests. You shall also give to the priests the first of your dough that a blessing may rest on your house Every man according as he purposes in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loves a cheerful giver. This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shall meditate therein day and night, that thou may observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shall make thy way prosperous, and then thou shall have good success.
Commentary I think it is important to know what God will is for you regarding finances. Then you will know how to pray and not repeat vain repetitions. God wants you to prosper. God does not want you to worry. You say if I am not to worry, what should I do? You should pray for wisdom. There is nothing that can compare to the wisdom and the knowledge of God. Book learning comes from reading books, watching TV or whatever. But knowledge of God and wisdom comes from God. There is nothing that can compare to them. When you seek God first, he will give you knowledge of witty inventions. In other words, you will get ideas that will make you prosperous. God’s wisdom will give you knowledge and insight. You will be able to use this knowledge and insight to come up with ideas that will help you meet your obligations. The Lord stores up wisdom for the upright. You say, there are rich people who are not upright. Well that’s true. But you are not to be envious of the wicked and do not desire to be like them. Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? What else should you do? You should give. Give and it shall be given unto to you. God will tell you in your wisdom who to give to. But one thing he tells you is to give the first fruits of your labor to his storehouse. In other words you should tithe to your local church. If you do not have a church, then you should find a bible believing, bible teaching church. God will impart wisdom to you over from the teachings that you receive at the Church. Generally 10% of your income is acceptable as the tithe. You say you don’t have the money. Well plan, and organize your budget. God will begin to give you godly wisdom that will produce increase over time. Be patient. This is not a get rich quick scheme. And remember that God says give and it shall be given unto you. Plan with that that you do have. If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. Observe the places where you are spending your money and make adjustments. For instance, if you smoke and are in need of money, maybe you could stop smoking and allocate those funds elsewhere. You know your situation so you can seek God and make adjustments that you feel are necessary. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work. I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
